A nice mountain. They make lots of snow. An adequate base lodge.
They have very diverse high quality terrain.
One hidden treasure is Upper Crossover – a sweet bump run that is nice & steep. Clare’s Run on the West Side has nice turns, little options and plenty of steep stuff. K27 is long, steep and covered with big moguls. Good intermediate and great beginner terrain.
Hunter has reputation for having huge lift lines, but I don’t think the lines were too bad in the 08/09 season. They have multiple lift options also.
My biggest beef with Hunter is that the lifts get shut down far too often. It’s due to the high winds. Perhaps this is not the fault of the resort, but I’m pretty sure it gets windy at other resorts also.
Hunter is a good mountain and a great choice for New Yorkers. |

The best mountain within a reasonable drive form NYC. Always making more snow but they get too many freeze thaw cycles so it usually ice by 11:00 once the grooming is worn off. |
