We have skied at 29 different resorts throughout North America, and Alta is one of the best, if not the best. It has fantastic snow and fantastic terrain. If you want to "be seen" rather than "to ski", you may be better off at some place like Whistler or Park City. But for quantity and quality of snow, this place cannot be beat. I believe they still do not allow boarders as well, so you do not have to worry about being "creamed" by some out-of-control boarder who has you in his blind spot. (An acquaintence was killed last week at a BC resort, when he was hit by a boarder. Two friends have been injured when run into by out-of-control boarders. My wife just shared a lift last month with a 91-year old skier who had just been struck and knocked down by a boarder -- boarders have "blind spots" when turning towards their back side - so we prefer mountains that do not allow them.)
